For this Mommin’ Monday, let’s talk about a subject more difficult than getting 5 kids to look and smile for a camera.
Before I go into my specific details, let me just say, there is not a right and wrong way to have a baby as long as baby and momma are healthy. ❤️
So, my birthing stories may look extremely different than yours. And that’s ok. That doesn’t make either one of us more or less than the other.
You. Are. Amazing.
Ok. Now that that is out of the way.
I was a little early, and my water broke by itself. No contractions. And being a first time mom, we rushed right away to the hospital. They hooked me on pitocin, and contractions started a few hour later. Once contractions started, it was a fast and furious 4 hours to go from a 3cm to baby.
Little sister came a day or two before her due date. I went into labor exactly 1 hour 50 minutes before I delivered her. In another country. Where they all had epidurals. So, the nurses and doctors didn’t really know how to handle me. It was also a fast and furious labor.
I don’t think I was actually in labor when I went in to the hospital. But I lived an hour away, so they took me in. We waited. I had back labor for the first time. We waited some more. Then, they broke my water. This labor wasn’t so fast or furious. I was able to rest in between contractions. It was actually a very restful l&d.
I was tired. Tired of being pregnant. Tired of not being able to walk. I was also an hour away from the hospital with a history of fast labors. So, 38 weeks, I scheduled an induction for the next week. I also went into the pregnancy dreading the pain. So, I opted for the drugs and epidural. I was out of it (never again!) and I didn’t like not being able to walk or pee after. But, it’s what I needed at the time. And I’m not opposed to doing it that way, again.
Again, I went into labor in the middle of the night. Drove an hour to the hospital. They broke my waters almost as soon as we got there. And the doctor came in to literally catch baby girl.
Are any of these stories similar to yours???
Or was your experience completely different???
I’d love to hear below!
