As a mom of so many kids, you would think I would be the one handing out all the advice. But I am still learning every day. I love trying new things. I love learning from seasoned moms to how they run their homes and how they discipline their kids and do all the things.
Do you want to know the best advice I’ve received in a long time?
“Make your home the place you want to be.”

When my friend posted that, I was honestly a little shaken. I began looking at my home in a different light. I went and bought cinnamon rolls and added raisins and apples. I gave myself permission to enjoy an unhealthy breakfast with my kiddos. And I have zero guilt.
How often do I think of my house as something to keep? As a to-do list of things to accomplish? As a burdensome chore? Not only me, but how do my kids see the home? A place to clean? A place we sleep and eat the fast food we’ve grabbed after football? Is it a place that is welcoming to family and to guests?
How many times do I wish to go grab an overpriced coffee…not because I like the taste, but to feel fancy and “treat myself”. Can I not do the same at home? Can I not make my home the place I want to be?
So, I started asking myself:
How can I change my mindset about my home?
Here are a few things I’ve come up with!
I am starting to change my mindset. I am trying to see my home as more than a place I have to maintain. I joyfully see it as a place to serve my people. I am starting to see it as THE place I want to be.
I am starting to declutter. We don’t use most of what we have, anyway.
I am starting to bake all the treats and put whipping cream in my coffee.
I am starting to use real plates and fancy dishes for meals.
I am spending a little more money on charcoal and grilling material because I love spending time with my hubby outside around the fit pit/grill on a chilly night talking and making s’mores with the kids.
Sister, we only live once. Our kids are only little once. There are no do-overs. No extra lives. How can you enjoy your house more today? How can you enjoy your kids more today? Do you need to add whipped cream to your coffee? Or make the cinnamon rolls and actually enjoy them?
